5 BUSINESS LESSONS I HAVE LEARNT IN 10 YEARS

My name is Ajayi Olalekan Divine.


I’m an Entrepreneur with about a decade business and work experience across a few industries; IT, fashion, education management, real estate, consulting, journalism and broadcasting.

I have probably learnt a million and one things about business over the years both from my experience and the top directors and executives I have worked with, however, I will like to share just 5 with you.

1. BUSINESSES ARE ALL ABOUT ACTION

What do I mean?
You don’t have a business until you have started one. Hence, the first step to having a business is to take action; start one.
I have never seen anyone do something tangible without starting.
But make informed decisions and take informed action.

2. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FAILED, FAILING OR SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS IS…

Maybe just two…
a) Information
b) Best practices-in every aspect of the business.

Excellence in any field is a result of having the right information and taking the right steps.

3. PEOPLE AND SYSTEMS GROW BUSINESSES

There is no such thing as accidental growth; growth is intentional, therefore if you want to grow your business you need systems and strategies; an action plan. Then you certainly will need people who will execute the action plan; firstly yourself, then others too.

4. BUSINESSES REFLECT THEIR OWNERS

This is an absolute statement!
Where your business is at right now is a reflection of you. If you are not making sales, you are likely bad at selling, if you are not getting good hands or retaining customers, you most likely suck at human relations.
Consequently, your business is a reflection of you. As a result, the better you get, the better your business gets.

5. INVEST IN YOURSELF

More like No 4.
The most important person to invest in as an entrepreneur is yourself.
Doing this comes with a lifetime ROI-Return on Investment.
The better you get, the better your business gets.
Get trained, take RELEVANT courses improve your marketing, sales skills, etc.
Invest in a coach.
Do everything to get better
